Digital future of the EU – engine of European competitiveness

Moderator: Nicklas Lundblad, adjunct Professor and Director of Public Policy at Google Europe.

The European Commission has estimated that by establishing a digital single market, we can generate €250 billion extra growth and the creation of hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the EU. A strong digital market would also spur innovation and strengthen our position as a knowledge-intensive society. The EU can no longer afford to fall further behind digital champions like the US and South Korea.

We are gathering politicians and business representatives to discuss how to boost European competitiveness through strengthening the digital economy in EU and the Baltic Sea region.

The conference hosts prominent speakers, including:

  • Andrus Ansip, Vice President of the European Commission
  • Kaspars Gerhards, Minister for Environment and Regional Development, Latvia
  • Mehmet Kaplan,  Minister for Housing, Urban Development and IT, Sweden
  • Carola Lemne, DG Confederation of Swedish Enterprise
  • Liga Mengelsone, DG Employers’ Confederation of Latvia

Nicklas Lundblad, adjunct Professor and Director of Public Policy at Google Europe, will be moderating the discussions.

Companies (including iZettle, Serendipity, Lattelecom, Blue bridge and Tilde) from Latvia and Sweden will engage in discussions about the opportunities of digital growth and the policy framework required to achieve it.

The seminar covers all three greater priorities of the Latvian EU Presidency: Competitive Europe, Digital Europe and Engaged Europe. Latvia and Sweden, two countries at the forefront of the European digital agenda, invite you to a dynamic discussion about the digital future of the EU.

The seminar will be broadcasted live on this site. Link will be published later.
